Oral Examinations
Regular dental check-ups, ideally twice a year, allow your dentist to identify emerging oral health issues and create a tailored treatment plan.
During your examination, your dentist will carefully assess the condition of your teeth, gums, jaw, and bite. These appointments may also include diagnostic procedures such as dental X-rays, oral cancer screenings, and other evaluations, all aimed at ensuring your long-term oral health and well-being.
Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer can occur in any part of the mouth or surrounding tissues. During your exam, your dentist will examine your face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, and gums for signs of oral cancer, which can be challenging to detect at a quick glance.
Oral Health Care at Home
To keep your smile healthy between dental appointments, be sure to brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes each time, and floss at least once a day.
Oral Hygiene for Chilliwack Patients
We believe in working with our patients to help them achieve optimal oral health. Medical conditions and medications can affect dental health, and dental hygiene may be able to alleviate or eliminate resulting oral issues.
The dental hygienists at our clinic help care for gums and teeth with routine cleanings and fluoride treatments. These are standard parts of dental care and crucial for preventing cavities and other oral issues. They also allow our team the opportunity to spot potential problems early.
Our goal is to help our patients maintain good oral health well into adulthood. This is why we regularly perform oral examinations and provide care as required. We can also facilitate any referral to a specialist if needed.
Dental Cleanings
During your preventive care visit, your dental hygienist will perform a deep cleaning of your teeth and gums to prevent and treat disease.
They will use a scaler to remove any tartar and plaque buildup. Next, they will use a polisher and coarse toothpaste to remove any leftover stains or plaque before thoroughly flossing your teeth.
Fluoride Treatment
If you have an increased risk of tooth decay, your dentist may also recommend a fluoride treatment. Fluoride is a natural mineral that can help strengthen and rebuild tooth enamel which in turn can prevent or reverse tooth decay.
